Who paints a hot rod pink?  This was my first reaction when I saw Larry Arsenault’s 1933 Ford at a High River, AB car show last fall.  I also thought it would make a great color in photos, but only if I could get just the right light. I’ll let you decide about the photos but it turns out I’m not the only one struck by the unique colour.  It seems the colour resonates with some women.  And since acquiring the car Larry has had to fend off more than a few enthusiastic onlookers.

For example one admiring female told Larry it looked so good tshe wanted to lick it.  Another was so excited when she saw the car she had to immediately take photos with her cell phone....while she was driving in her car.

When Larry first saw the car, dubbed “Think Pink”, he was at the spring 2009 Car Crazy auction in Calgary. The colour immediately brought to mind his wife’s recent brush with cancer and that was enough to convince him the car would be a fitting tribute. Since then she has recovered and I don’t think Larry will ever sell the car. But if he did sell this is what he would be selling.

The rod is based on a Gibbon fiberglass reproduction body and was built in Calgary by Troy’s Hot Rod.  The car is powered by a 351 Ford Windsor that is naturally aspirated. To stop the car the front disk and rear drums are power assisted.  Starting and stopping power is transmitted through BF Goodrich Silvertown Radials, P185/70R14 fronts and P225/70R15 rears.  As you can see in the photos the dash has a full compliment of digital gauges.  The interior is covered in fabric and when combined with the Vintage Air guarantees Larry and his wife a comfortable ride what ever the weather.
