Throughout the build he tried to use parts that would have been available to hot rodders in the 1950s or 1960s. That included the engine, which he always knew would be a Buick Nailhead.  “I didn’t want a small block Ford or SBC, it had to be a Nailhead,” says Anderson. “In 2007 I bought a 1965 Buick Electra for $800 and ended up driving it for the entire summer it was such a nice car. Originally I was going to pull the motor and sell the car but I ended up selling the whole car for $3,000.” Good fortune struck again shortly after when Anderson was offered a 1965 Buick Wildcat for free. That car donated it’s 401ci V8, transmission, and of course the drum brakes.

Flat-Nasty was finished in 2011 and building and driving it was such a blast that Anderson already has two other projects on the go.  If practice makes perfect you have to think both will turn out to be pretty wicked hot rods.
