Well folks, this is our last magazine….with black and white pages.<\/p>\n
OK, that was a cheap stunt, but I just wanted to make sure I got your attention \u2014 that is if the magazine before you hasn\u2019t already done that for me. Hopefully you noticed a fewchanges we\u2019ve made to this issue.<\/p>\n
First of all, CHRC is bigger \u2014 another eight pages compared to last issue \u2014 and it is full colour. That means unless the photo was taken \u201cback in the day\u201d with black and white photography the cars and photos you see in the magazine will always be full colour \u2014 the way the gearhead gods intended you to see them.<\/p>\n
Secondly, those eight pages are on glossy stock, including our centre pull-out poster. Hope you like it.<\/p>\n
We\u2019ve also added a few new regular features, the most exciting of which is Engine Guy by Mike Dunn (page 10).<\/p>\n
Now, maybe I could have thought of a better name for Mike\u2019s column, but I was tired and he was too busy to help me out. While Mike\u2019s mechanical skills go beyond \u201cjust\u201d being an engine guru \u2014 which by the way is another column moniker I thought about then dismissed as too cliche \u2014 he definitely knows an awful lot about engines.<\/p>\n
We hope you begin to see him as the guy who can answer your questions when it comes to the next powerplant you stick under the hood. Just e-mail Mike your questions to mycarpublications@shaw.ca and put Engine Guy in the subject line \u2014 he\u2019ll take it from there.<\/p>\n
Another feature we\u2019ve added is Cool New Stuff (hey, I\u2019m just loaded with dazzling, creative feature titles<\/p>\n
this issue) which is, well, exactly what it says it is. Every issue we\u2019ll fill a couple of pages with new gearhead<\/p>\n
schwag that\u2019s caught our attention and might be of some use to you. If you see anything out there you think should be in the feature, give us a call (1-888-753-2111) or e-mail the weblink and we\u2019ll take a look. The debut column is on page 78.<\/p>\n
Last but not least we\u2019ve reintroduced the What\u2019s in Your Garage feature after a few issues hiatus. It\u2019s just one page in this issue, but in subsequent magazines I hope it\u2019s always two pages so send in the photos of<\/p>\n
your latest project and give us a little writeup about what your doing with the car, etc.
\nAs always, we encourage you to write in and tell us what you like or don\u2019t like about the magazine or comment on articles and columns.<\/p>\n
In less than two weeks (July 2) we\u2019ll be hitting the road for our cross-Canada tour which means my wife Patty and will be dipping our toes in the Atlantic Ocean after participating in the Atlantic Nationals in Moncton, NB (July 12-15) then hooking up with the Canadian Rodder Hot Rod Tour July 17 and making a 10-day trek back to B.C. just in time for Northwest Deuce Day in Victoria, B.C. July 29.<\/p>\n
Speaking of Northwest Deuce Day, in last issues Blowin\u2019 Smoke column I made a boo-boo concerning the departure and landing point for all the U.S. cars that are coming up for the event.<\/p>\n
Those cars will be departing the U.S. from Port Angeles, WA and arriving Friday, July 27 at Victoria’s Inner Harbour. Should be quite the sight to see as close to 100 cars roll off the ferry and head into downtown<\/p>\n

Last count I heard was more than 700 cars and more than half of those are \u201932 Fords. Should be quite the 75th Anniversary bash.<\/p>\n

Speaking of the Canadian Rodder Hot Rod Tour, Frank Colgoni recently emailed to say that as of June 20,<\/p>\n
there are 107 people registered. \u201cOf course, there’s no way of knowing who will \u201cshow up,\u201d says the Tour founder and organizer. \u201cWe’ll leave Toronto with around 30 cars and pick up some on the way to Sudbury -\u2014 arriving with around 36 I believe. We leave Sudbury with around 48 and, after Thunder Bay, it’s about 36-37 cars until Medicine Hat where we bring about 41 into Calgary. Then 63 leaving Calgary and 75 leaving Kamloops.\u201d<\/p>\n

Need to mention another tour that\u2019s happening in late July, early August and departing from Lloydminster, SK on July 31. The A&W and Lloydminster Auto Club have organized the Boogie to Brandon Tour for all those interested in taking in Western Canada\u2019s biggest hot rod event \u2014 the Super Run which this year takes place in Brandon, MB.<\/p>\n
The Boogie to Brandon tour is a three day run which kicks off July 31 (that\u2019s a Tuesday) a 9 a.m. from the<\/p>\n
Lloydminster A&W and then hits A&W restaurants in various cities along the route until we arrive the<\/p>\n
afternoon of Aug. 2 (that\u2019s a Thursday) at Brandon for a show & shine in the parking lot. Then it\u2019s<\/p>\n
three days of fun at the Super Run.<\/p>\n
